HCCC CARE COURSE MAY 2025
By popular demand, HCCC is offering a repeat of a course of training in home -based care for families (not aspirant professionals) living in the Hangklip villages of Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els.
“ENABLING FAMILIES AND OTHERS TO MEET THE CARE CHALLENGES OF DEBILITY AND ILLNESS IN THE HOME”
This will consist of several 3-hour sessions over 3 weeks, including a practical training session.
Dates: May 8,12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 29th (Monday and Thursday afternoons)
Time: 12h30-15h30
Venue: Community Hall, Pringle Bay
Fee: R390 (to cover cost of printed hand-outs and including HCCC membership for 2025-2026)*
The aim is two-fold:
A. Enablement / empowerment of families to better cope with medical adversity, by gaining
the necessary knowledge and skills, and facilitating engagement with existing resources.
B. To promote community support with improved networking for health and home-based care.
The programme will include presentations and workshops on the following:
Engaging with palliative care, cancer, managing pain and other symptoms, normal ageing and its challenges, disability, mental health, coping with dementia, managing grief, loss and bereavement, advanced care planning, fundamentals of communication, confidentiality and spirituality issues in caring, also an outline of health resources available to this community. The final session will offer practical skills training.
