Members have the privilege of purchasing balanced, nutritious meals from the HCCC kitchen at cost
price,
thereby taking advantage of cost savings arising from bulk purchasing of ingredients and the substantial input of volunteers into the preparation of the meals.
For several years the price of a meal has been kept constant at R40.00.
However, rapidly rising costs of ingredients have made it necessary to increase the basic price to R50 per meal as from 1 April 2024.
It should be borne in mind that relief is available to HCCC members who are unable to afford the
basic price of R50.00. Currently more than 80 % of all meals produced (in total over 6 000 in
2023/24) are subsidised. Unlike the basic price, the price structure for subsidised meals has been kept the same.
Depending on household income, meals continue to be sold to financially struggling
members at prices ranging from R35.00 down to as low as R10.00 per meal.
